A modern-day tale of fortune-telling in the world of West Texas oil rigs. A Landman, at least one who works in the petroleum industry, will act as an intermediary between exploration companies and landowners. A landowner’s role is usually to negotiate and finalize contracts with landowners who own mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent. They essentially manage the land and secure the leases so they can drill for oil and gas. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, labor quarters (man-camp), supervise the assembly of digging machines and the drilling of the well itself, especially in remote locations. They are also part fixers, problem solvers and facilitators. Reference in CBS News Sunday Morning: 44.24. episode (2022). This could easily have been classified as 8.5-9 points. If not for his crappy and so sexualized daughter and ex-wife/mother. They serve no purpose to the plot and are simply annoying and offensive to the women of West Texas. Being a far West Texan myself, I sort of understand where Sheridan is coming from, but this is awful. West Texas women are some of the strongest, most ambitious women I know. Other than that, the writing and acting are fantastic. Sheridan could easily have another Yellowstone on his hands if he gets rid of the very uncomfortable inter-family horn. But again, love me some Sheridan writing (and acting) and a thoroughly enjoyable show, most of it.
